About

Our Mission

The Mission of the Cleveland Jewish Arts and Culture Lab in Cleveland is to enable the Arts to be a Jewish source of expression and inspiration for local artists, culturalists, and the broader community. We provide annual Fellowships for artists to explore their Jewish interests, encouraging artistic development in a Jewish context through interaction with each other and through study of Jewish themes texts.

Our History

Founded in 2012, we have worked with about a dozen artists a year. In the 2015-2016 cycle, we expanded to Cleveland’s sister-cities, St. Petersburg, Russia, and Beit Shean, Israel to explore the theme Homeland and Promised Land. In the 2016-2017 cycle we proudly joined the Midwest Artists Laboratory Network and expanded our programming to reach high school students and to further engage alumni of the Fellowship.
