Karen Shiffman is a mother, daughter, partner, sister, friend and teacher. She received a B.S. in Art Education from State University College at Buffalo and a M.Ed. in Early Childhood from Kent State University. Karen, a New York native, lived on Kibbutz Lotan in Israel where she taught art at the regional school. She moved with her husband David to Cleveland in 1989, and began teaching at The Joseph and Florence Mandel Jewish Day School, (formerly known as the Agnon School) the following year. Karen is a recipient of the Grinspoon-Steinhardt Award for Excellence in Jewish Education and the Steiger Family Grant for excellence in Jewish education, which honors outstanding teachers in Jewish Day Schools. She is the mother of three amazing young adults, Devorah, Sam and Lucie and is delighted to be returning to the arts and working with the Jewish Arts And Culture Lab.
